Hazmat Training The DelValle Institute for Emergency Preparedness, a program of the Boston Public Health Commission and Boston EMS, is pleased to announce upcoming training sessions for Hazardous Materials for Hospital Providers. Captain Kent Scarna instructs aspiring students on how to become emergency medical technicians through the Community EMT Program. EMT Courses are held twice a year during the winter and fall months. The 150-hour long EMT-B training program at Boston EMS offers comprehensive classroom training, emergency room observation at the Boston Medical Center, and the opportunity to observe Boston BEMS operations during an ambulance ride-along. Students also receive a CPR Healthcare Provider Card from the American Heart Association upon successful completion of the prerequisite CPR course. After successfully completing the EMT-B course students receive a Boston EMS Certificate and are eligible for the state certification and licensing examination.
