Support Services Division is made up of the Fleet Services Section and Communication Engineering.

Fleet Services Section is responsible for managing all activities associated with Department vehicles including

Communications Engineering Unit is responsible for the planning, implementation, management and
maintenance of critical voice and data systems to support Boston EMS and the Metro-Boston Central
Medical Emergency Direction (CMED) radio networks.

Professional Standards Division is responsible for ensuring Departmental compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations; for developing and recommending policies and procedures for the Policy and Procedure Manual; for receiving, investigating and reporting on external complaints; for receiving and forwarding reports of child abuse, elderly abuse, and motor vehicle crashes; for conducting investigations of alleged misconduct and recommending remedial action; for processing criminal subpoenas issued to Department members.  The Professional Standards Division receives, investigates and responds to Union grievances; monitors employee attendance and institutes progressive discipline as indicated.

Special Projects Unit is responsible for project development and management, often of a technical nature such as facility access control, telecommunications, and software integration.
